FLYBOYS (HOLLYWOOD)
COMES TO ENTHORPE
In 2005 we awoke one summers morning to the bizarre site of 2 ancient aircraft flying at zero feet in a mock battle.
A little later this was followed up with a request to film for a forth coming film.....
That Sunday, with the temp nearly 100 degrees we watched bemused as a Nieport Scout was chased all over the skies by a Fokker.... A right Black Fokker he was too..... followed by a most expensive helicopter with even more expensive camera gear....
As far as we know one of the pilots was the late great Ray Hannah, sadly it must have been one of his last roles.
If you get the chance, watch the film (FLYBOYS) its actually quite good .... forget the typical American daft comments and the funny looking “non flying” Nieuports though. The aerial sequences - particularly the terrifying German bomber sequence are just about the best seen on celluloid.
