Certainly the most beautiful city in the North if not the UK... Even after 20 years I am still having a love affair with this city. It has just about everything shops, places to eat, history, fantastic architecture, no traffic in the centre.... need I go on?
From walking the walls, retail therapy, museums to die for (National Railway , Castle & Jorvik centre) York has it all.
However unless you know it well USE THE PARK RIDE - its cheap, reliable and every 10 minutes - but remember, which bus you got on otherwise you may just find yourself in the wrong car park!
With an abundance of delightful places to wine and dine, my advice would be to stay away from the obvious ie BETTY’s try BETTY’s 2 along stonegate. Better setting, better view, better everything. Or for something unusual try the TREASURERS House underground cafe - brilliant. But for those 2 hour lunches where time disappears and the food standard/price is top drawer, you will have to go some to beat OSCARS off Stonegate. Go after 3pm and you will have the pick of seats....go before and expect to queue.
The one thing you will find is that a day will be no where enough - I haven’t even mentioned the Minster, the river trips, the fantastic Ghost walks, let alone the......
